Building on the success of last year’s sports week, this year Allerton Grange decided to invite local primary schools to take part in an Inter-Primary School Sports Day to start off proceedings.
Forty students from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 from Moor Allerton Hall, Wigton Moor, Moortown and Talbot joined our exclusive event, putting forward competitors in a range of races including the three-legged race, 50 metre sprint, hurdles, egg and spoon race and beanbag relay. The competition was tough from all schools with Talbot and Wigton Moor neck and neck, however Wigton Moor were crowned overall winners to take home the winner’s cup. Feedback from the schools who took part was extremely positive.
Sports Week for Years 7-10 started off with the hottest day of the year, however our athletes were on top form and gave it their all to win points for their team. The teams, named after British Olympians, were made up of a form group from each Year group, allowing for winners categories by Year group, as well as overall Years and sports combined.
The record table on display near reception will record the fastest times in each event, with record breakers knocking off previous title holders year after year. There is a real buzz around Sports Week which brings together everyone from across our school community, leading to the event becoming an annual tradition.
