Literacy

Literacy is very important to us at Allerton Grange. Research shows that people with good literacy skills are more likely to have higher self-esteem, better health, better jobs and higher wages than those with poor literacy skills. We want our students to have the best possible opportunities in life, so we seek to improve their skills in speaking, reading and writing throughout their whole time in the school.

Year 10 students have the opportunity to take part in Sound Training, which is taught in groups of 4 for a six week cycle. This has been highly successful in improving reading, comprehension and spelling skills.
