Religious Studies

Edexcel Religious Studies GCSE

Students in Year 10 have one lesson of Religious Studies per week in which they continue to complete a full GCSE in Religious Studies. The syllabus in Year 10 covers key beliefs and practices from both Islam and Christianity. In Islam, this consists of the six main articles of faith, the different denominations and practices within Islam and key festivals. Within the Christian faith, we look at the key beliefs of Christianity, both in the UK and across the world, and the key beliefs of Christianity including the Nicene Creed, the Trinity and the life of Jesus. We then apply these teaching to more philosophical and ethical issues, the study of which continue into Year 11.

Students will be given topic lists at the start of every unit and extra work could be centred around learning the key words and starting to compile revision notes and verses and teachings to support each topic.
