Farsley Celtic Academy
2nd round trials - Monday 5 February 2018, from 6.30pm. Sign up here
The post-16 provision provides young players with an opportunity to train and play as professional/semi-professional footballers, with all the benefits of a relevant educational qualification.
The full time football programme will be partnered with a Cambridge Technical Sports Course, run from Farsley Celtic’s home of Throstle Nest, providing the perfect balance when looking at further education options away from the classroom. Students on the 1 year Level 2 course will also have the opportunity to study for re-sits in Maths and English GCSE qualifications, whilst students working towards the Level 3 course will study for 2 years. Members of the Academy will train in a professional environment, allowing them to concentrate on improving as players, whilst working with experienced and qualified teachers in order to continue their studies.
Within the Academy the players will compete in the National League Under 19s Alliance League, which is regarded as one of the best youth competitions outside of the professional game and is regularly attended weekly by professional scouts. In addition, the team is entered into the prestigious FA Youth Cup.
Applications are considered on an individual basis but subject areas have their own entry requirements. As a guide you will normally be expected to have achieved a minimum of the following:
For level 3 courses - a good range of GCSEs from grade 4 - 9 including a grade 4 in English and Maths or the equivalent at BTEC level.
Level 2 courses - 2 Grade 3s at GCSE
Specific entry requirements for this course are as follows:
At least 2 grade 3s in your Year 11 courses.
