At A’ Level, History continues to be one of the most popular subjects. Perhaps the reasons for this have their roots in the earlier years, but the continued exam success of our pupils might also be another key reason. Pupils meet and exceed national standards of both attainment and progress, meaning very good grades where pupils fulfil their potential. We follow the Edexcel specification.
The department supports a broader engagement with history through extra opportunities. These have included visits to sites such as project work with Leeds University, visits and talks from outside experts on particular themes.
Ongoing assessment is made via exam style source-work and essay tasks throughout the terms. Formal pre-public exams are conducted in January and the A levels are taken in the summer term.
