WJEC Eduqas GCSE (9-1) in DRAMA

The GCSE Drama course enables students to develop a much deeper understanding of Drama, including ways into devising, devising from a stimulus, performing scripted extracts and learning to write about the process of making theatre.

During Year 10, students will perform in pre-public exam assessments and explore a range of genres of theatre, key practitioners and scripts. All components of study are explored practically in class. However, students must note that the final GCSE award is assessed 40% practical and 60% written. Towards the end of Year 10, students will embark on the first examined component of study which will be completed in Year 11.

Live Theatre - written response

The Drama Department provides opportunities for Year 10 students to be involved outside of class, including taking part in the senior show directed by Leeds University students, attending specialist skills workshops, going on theatre trips, becoming a Drama Ambassador and auditioning to be in school shows.
