Year 11 Curriculum

Students in Year 11 are approaching the culmination of their secondary education and preparing to take their GCSE qualifications in the summer term. Parents are invited to attend a Parent Power Workshop in September to learn techniques to support their child with revision. There are three rounds of pre-public, or practice, exams throughout the year before the official public exams which start in mid-May. Lots of useful information regarding revision support and when exams take place can be found on the Exams and Revision page, under Parent Information. Regular revision classes are provided in all subject areas during lunches or after school; further information can be found on the After School Clubs page, under School Information.

Assemblies for Year 11 take place on Thursdays in the Main Hall in place of registration with form tutors 8.30am – 9.15am. Assemblies cover a range of key messages as well as some special events and speakers linked with areas covered through the Personal, Social and Health Education curriculum. Every half term Rewards Assemblies take place to recognise achievements from individuals and groups.

Year 11 students are expected to set a good example for younger members of the school to follow. We follow the school’s Policy for Positive Discipline which allocates achievement and behaviour points to students. Achievement points can lead to prizes or special trips whereas behaviour points issued for breaking school rules can lead to detentions or more serious sanctions. Achieving a positive points balance in Year 11 will be a deciding factor in students being invited to the end of Year 11 Prom which is always well attended and a fantastic way to round off the year.

Each individual subject page contains information concerning what is studied in this subject in Year 11. This includes useful links for parents to support their children with learning at home. Should you require further information, please contact us either by emailing the curriculum leader directly, or by using the 'Contact Us' form on this website.
