Apprenticeships
At Allerton Grange, students are taught about apprenticeships from Year 7 to Year 13.
Year 7
- Celebrate National Apprenticeships Week.
- Have a Planning for Progress session to learn what apprenticeships are, and that they are an option for them after Year 11.
- Some employers mention apprenticeships to students when they come in to speak to students.
Year 8
- Celebrate National Apprenticeships Week.
- Have a Planning for Progress session to learn what apprenticeships are, what type of jobs can and can’t be done through an apprenticeship and that they are an option for them after Year 11 and Year 13.
- Some employers mention apprenticeships to students when they come in to speak to students.
Year 9
- Celebrate National Apprenticeships Week.
- Have a Planning for Progress session to learn what apprenticeships are, what type of jobs can and can’t be done through an apprenticeship and that they are an option for them after Year 11 and Year 13. They also learn what levels of apprenticeship exist.
- Some employers mention apprenticeships to students when they come in to speak to students.
Year 10
- Celebrate National Apprenticeships Week.
- Have a guest speaker in to deliver an assembly about apprenticeships, as part of AGS Futures in the summer term. This forms part of the curriculum dedicated to Post-16 Options.
- Employers are asked to mention apprenticeships when they come in to deliver assemblies or group sessions related to careers.
Year 11
- Celebrate National Apprenticeships Week.
- Have a guest speaker in to deliver an assembly about apprenticeships, as part of AGS Futures in the autumn term.
- Employers are asked to mention apprenticeships when they come in to deliver assemblies or group sessions related to careers.
- Specific workshops are delivered to students who are interested in applying for apprenticeships, these focus on CV building, apprenticeship searching and the application process.
- Apprenticeships are discussed with all students at 1:1 CIAG meetings.
Year 12
- Celebrate National Apprenticeships Week.
- Have a guest speaker in to deliver an assembly about apprenticeships, as part of the Next Steps Day in the summer term.
- Employers are asked to mention apprenticeships when they come in to deliver assemblies or group sessions related to careers.
- Apprenticeships are discussed with all students at 1:1 CIAG meetings.
Year 13
- Celebrate National Apprenticeships Week.
- Hear from companies who run apprenticeship programmes in assemblies or workshops (e.g. HSBC, Lloyds, KPMG).
- Have dedicated workshops with the Careers Lead, to support with searching, applications, assessment days, etc.
- Are offered a mock interview in preparation for upcoming interviews.
