Little Shop of Horrors contains prominent themes and depictions of domestic violence.
The character of Audrey is in an abusive relationship with her boyfriend, Orin Scrivello, a sadistic dentist.
Please be aware that scenes include:
- Verbal and Emotional Abuse: Audrey is frequently belittled and made to feel that she deserves the poor treatment she receives.
- Physical Abuse: There are instances of physical domestic abuse, which range from implied violence (appearing with bruises) to explicit depictions like slapping.
- Dark Humour: The abusive relationship and the dentist's sadistic nature is portrayed with a "campy" or dark comedic tone, which some find problematic as it can make light of a serious issue.
- Substance Abuse: Orin also abuses nitrous oxide (laughing gas)
For individuals sensitive to the topic, we recommend discretion or avoiding the show due to these significant plot points.
