Drama and Theatre Studies
If you want to study on a mainly practical Drama and Theatre Studies course and you have the self-discipline and determination to improve your knowledge and a passion for the performing arts, then this is the course for you.
In this course, you will be given a range of opportunities to create theatre, both published text based and devised work.
You will take part in collaborative workshops with professionals, such as Frantic Assembly, Splendid Productions as well as the opportunity to collaborate with Leeds Beckett and Leeds University.
You will experience live theatre in a range of venues both locally and across the country. The course will help you to develop and apply an analytical understanding of Drama and Theatre.
You will be required to analyse and evaluate your work as well as the work of others.
Students with a strong background in/natural talent for the Performing Arts would enjoy this A Level course.
Future opportunities
This course can form a good basis for a career or further study, not only in all performance based disciplines and technical theatre, but in advertising, the film industry, events planning and promotion, English Literature, Law and Classics. The project based practical aspects of the course also provide excellent experience for those seeking out apprenticeship opportunities following Sixth Form.
A good range of GCSEs between grades 4 and 9, including English Language and Maths at grade 4 (or above). GCSE/BTEC Drama is desirable. You will be an accomplished, competent and confident performer.
